Black Cat Slouch Hat Pattern
Row 1: Work 23 foundation single crochet (fsc) (see my tutorial here) OR chain 24, work single crochet (sc) in second ch from hook and each ch across.
Row 2: Ch 2, turn. Working in back loops only, hdc in each stitch across.
Repeat Row 2 until the piece is long enough to wrap around your head, about 33 rows total.

Now you have a nice long rectangle. Fold it in half widthwise, and work single crochet stitches through both short ends to form a tube. Continue working single crochet stitches across the top of the hat as shown in the image below.
Finish off and weave in the ends. Then flip the hat inside out so the seams you just made are on the inside of the hat.
Next, we will add a brim to the bottom of the hat. Join the yarn by the seam and work single crochet stitches evenly around the open edge of the hat. It took me about 45 scs to go all the way around. Join with a slip stitch to the first sc. That’s the first round of the brim.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in each stitch around. Slip stitch to join.
Rnd 3: Ch 2, working in back loops only, hdc in each stitch around. Slip stitch to join.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in eact stitch around. Slip stitch to join. Finish off and weave in ends.

Rnd 4: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in eact stitch around. Slip stitch to join. Finish off and weave in ends.
Finally, we will form the ears. Thread a piece of yarn onto the yarn needle and stitch through the top corners of the hat to form ears.
Pull on the ends a bit to tighten up the ear shape, tie knots to secure, and weave in the ends.
And that’s it! Your cute cat hat is all ready to wear. You can push it back and the ears will be a bit lower like so:
Or, fold up the brim to place the ears on top of your head.
