A BEAUTIFUL RUG



I FOUND THIS PATTERN IN SOME OLD ALBUN I HAVE.
IN THIS PICTURE I CHANGED COLOURS BY REQUEST.


Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"AUNT LYDIA'S" HEAVY RUG YARN, Article 235
6 skeins Lt. Yellow.
5 skeins Gray.
Steel crochet hook No. 00.
Rug is worked in s c but placing hook over the top of yarn instead of under the yarn when pulling the loop through, this forms a cross st pattern on right side of work.
With Lt. Yellow ch 26, 3 s c in 2nd st from hook, 1 s c in each of the next 23 sts of ch, 3 s c in last st, working on other side of ch, 1 s c in each of the next 23 sts. Do not join or turn rounds.
2nd Round. * 3 s c in next s c (corner), 1 s c in next s c, 3 s c in next s c (corner), 1 s c in each of the next 23 s c, 3 s c in next s c (corner), 1 s c in next s c, 3 s c in next s c (corner), 1 s c in each remaining s c.
3rd Round. 1 s c in each sc all around working 3 s c in center s c at each of the 4 corners. Repeat the last round for entire rug working 20 more rounds Lt. Yellow, 6 rounds Gray, 4 rounds Lt. Yellow, 6 rounds Gray, cut yarn.
Fringe is worked with a strand of Gray and Lt. Yellow (together) as follows: insert hook in st and pull up a loop about 1 inch in length, wrap a single strand of Gray around the front of loop just made, * insert hook in next st and pull up a loop about 1 inch in length, wrap a single strand of Lt. Yellow around front of loop just made, insert hook in next st and pull up a loop same length, wrap a single strand of Gray around front of loop just made, repeat from * all around always alternating the colors brought around front of each loop, cut yarn.
